About Aurahi

Aurahi - Brown Living™

Aurahi was created with a simple intention: to reintroduce natural fibres that are stronger, healthier and more responsible than the regular cotton and polyester-based options people are used to. We realised that fabrics like hemp, once widely used in India for their strength and resilience, had been forgotten over time, along with the knowledge of their many benefits. By blending hemp with cotton and linen, we are bringing forward textiles that feel familiar yet perform much better. These blends are stronger than basic cotton, last longer, soften beautifully with use and require very little water and almost no chemicals to grow. Our purpose is to offer people a better choice, fabrics that are durable, breathable and kinder to the planet, paired with modern, thoughtfully designed home linen. Through Aurahi, we hope to encourage a shift away from polyester and low-quality cotton towards more conscious, long-lasting and naturally crafted bedding and home essentials.

What are the causes you support?

Non-Toxic (No Toxic Chemicals Used)

What is the manufacturing process?

Aurahi’s manufacturing process begins with sourcing organic, GOTS-certified natural fibres, including our custom hemp–cotton blends from trusted partners. The fabric is woven in controlled, ethical facilities that prioritise reduced water usage and energy-efficient machinery. We use digital textile printing to develop our designs, an eco-efficient method that eliminates dye wastage, minimises washing cycles, and allows precise colour sampling. After printing, the fabric undergoes low-water finishing, cutting, and stitching by skilled technicians in safe, compliant units. Each product is then inspected for print accuracy, and overall stitch quality. From fibre selection to final packaging, every step is carried out with a focus on responsible manufacturing, mindful resource use, and long-lasting performance.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

Aurahi uses organic, GOTS-certified natural fibres, primarily our hemp–cotton blends sourced from trusted partners like Hemp Fabric Lab (BOHECO). These fibres offer durability, breathability, and long-lasting softness. We use AZO-free, low-impact dyes and eco-efficient digital printing inks that minimise water use and chemical waste. For construction, we use cotton dyeable threads and fabric-based trims such as piping and buttons that match our natural-fibre approach. Our zippers are standard and used only where structurally essential. Our packaging is 100% plastic-free, made using recyclable cardboard boxes, fabric wrap, paper-based thank-you cards, and eco-friendly printed materials.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source our raw materials from certified and ethically compliant suppliers who prioritise sustainable and transparent production. Our primary fabrics, which include innovative hemp and cotton natural blends, come from Hemp Fabric Lab (BOHECO), a trusted GOTS certified supplier known for responsible fibre development and high quality natural textiles. All our dyes are AZO free and purchased from vendors who follow strict environmental and safety standards. We use cotton dyeable threads for stitching, and our fabric based trims are developed in small batches by local units that follow ethical practices. Our packaging materials, including cardboard boxes and paper based inserts, are sourced from vendors who specialise in recyclable, plastic free and eco friendly products. Every sourcing choice supports sustainability, traceability and long term environmental responsibility.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes, Aurahi products can be repurposed and, in most cases, composted at home because they are made from natural fibres like hemp and cotton. As the fabrics age, they can be reused in many ways, such as cushion fillers, cleaning cloths, small pouches, or quilting pieces, allowing the product to continue its life in a practical form. Since our textiles are made from natural fibres and stitched with cotton threads, the fabric can eventually break down in home composting conditions when cut into smaller pieces. Only elements like zipper teeth will need to be removed before composting. Our packaging, including cardboard boxes and paper based inserts, is fully recyclable and can return safely to the environment.
