Recore - Brown Living™

Recore

Recore Bio Materials Pvt. Ltd. is a material innovation brand redefining what plant-based alternatives can be. Founded with the belief that nature doesn’t need imitation, Recore develops cruelty-free, plant-based materials crafted from agricultural waste—most notably banana fibre discarded after harvest. Our materials and products celebrate natural textures, honest imperfections, and purposeful design, rather than replicating animal leather or synthetic plastics. At Recore, sustainability is not a trend—it is a responsibility. From sourcing waste fibres to in-house material engineering and handcrafted products, every step is designed to reduce environmental impact while creating premium, functional alternatives for fashion, interiors, and lifestyle applications. Our flagship innovation, Banaric™, transforms banana fibre waste into a durable, elegant material—bridging rural craftsmanship, material science, and modern design.

About Recore

Recore - Brown Living™

We have already begun producing Banaric™ and are actively using it across our range of bags and accessories, with a new collection series recently launched. Our approach is deeply material-led and rooted in natural processes, which brings both beauty and complexity to our work.

One of our key challenges lies in maintaining consistency in colour and texture, as natural fibres inherently vary from batch to batch. While this variation is part of Banaric™’s organic character, it also requires careful communication and thoughtful quality control.

Additionally, although our products carry a distinctive, textured aesthetic and a strong plant-based story, we are currently seeking stronger marketing support and wider visibility. This will help us better communicate the value of natural materials and connect with an audience that appreciates craftsmanship, sustainability, and the quiet individuality of organic design.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to transform agricultural waste into refined, plant-based materials and products thro

Impact Created

Banaric™ is engineered to significantly reduce environmental impact. Its production consumes approximately 30% less water and 40% less electricity compared to conventional plastic-derived materials. Made using up to 95% organic and nature-friendly additives, Banaric™ lowers dependence on synthetic inputs and reduces over 70% of non-renewable carbon consumption. In addition to its environmental benefits, Banaric™ supports rural employment for women in Bihar, creating value at the source while strengthening circular and responsible supply chains .6 meters of Banaric™ can save one fully grown cow from getting slaughtered.

What is the manufacturing process?

Raw Fibre Recovery Agricultural waste fibres are responsibly collected post-harvest and prepared through eco-conscious treatment methods to ensure consistency and strength. Fibre Structuring The processed fibres are transformed into a stable, flexible base using controlled mechanical processes that enhance durability while retaining natural character. Material Engineering Plant-derived formulations are carefully applied to improve performance properties such as strength, surface integrity, and longevity—without masking natural textures. Thermal Setting & Curing The material undergoes precision heat-setting to stabilise structure, enhance resilience, and achieve uniform performance across batches. Surface Refinement Finishing is kept minimal and intentional, preserving organic grain and tactile feel while ensuring suitability for everyday use. Quality Validation Each batch is tested for consistency, durability, and usability before moving into cutting, crafting, or roll dispatch.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

Banana fibre waste (primary plant reinforcement) Cellulose-based binding system (for fibre structuring and stability) Bio-polymers (to enhance flexibility, strength, and durability) Water-based, non-toxic pigments (for colour and surface finish) Eco-safe additives (used in minimal quantities for performance and longevity)

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source our raw materials directly from agricultural regions where banana cultivation is prevalent. After harvest, banana plants are typically discarded; we work with local networks to responsibly collect this fibre waste and give it a second life. The fibres are procured through transparent, traceable sourcing practices and prepared close to the source to reduce waste and transportation impact. Wherever possible, we prioritise locally available, renewable inputs and work with partners who follow ethical and environmentally responsible practices. This approach ensures consistency in quality while supporting circular use of agricultural resources.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Banaric™ is made primarily from plant-based fibres and bio-derived components; however, it is not suitable for full home composting. While the banana fibre content is naturally biodegradable, the engineered bio-polymers and performance layers require controlled industrial composting conditions to break down effectively and safely.

Kaushik Varadan is the founder and lead visionary behind Recore India.

  • Background: He is an Industrial Designer who founded the parent brand, Raydan®, in 2020. Recore was later established in 2022 as a specialized pioneering brand and was officially incorporated as Recore Bio Materials Pvt Ltd in early 2025.
  • The Vision: Driven by the goal of addressing the massive waste problem in both the traditional leather industry and banana farming, Kaushik developed a way to repurpose banana stem waste—which is typically discarded after harvest—into a high-performance fabric.
  • Innovation: Under his leadership, the company utilizes patented technology to convert fiber directly into fabric, a process that significantly saves water and energy compared to traditional textile manufacturing.
  • Leadership: He serves as a director of the company alongside Poorani Kesavan Varadan, focusing on pushing the boundaries of eco-conscious innovation to inspire brands and consumers to make ethical lifestyle choices.
