What is the manufacturing process?

Every toy begins with responsibly sourced wood, mainly neem,pine and beechwood. Skilled artisans cut and shape each piece, then hand-sand it for a smooth, safe finish. We use laser engraving or water based paint for lasting, toxin-free designs. Each toy is carefully checked for quality before being packed in eco-friendly packaging and sent out to bring joy to little hands.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

We use responsibly sourced natural woods like neem and ivory wood, known for their durability and safety. Our finishes are non-toxic, child-safe oils and polishes, ensuring smooth edges and a gentle touch. For detailing, we use laser engraving and water based paints , keeping our toys free from harmful chemicals and plastics.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source our wood from trusted local suppliers who follow responsible forestry practices, ensuring the wood is ethically harvested and of high quality. Each batch is carefully inspected for strength, grain, and safety. By sourcing locally, we reduce our carbon footprint and support regional communities and craftsmen.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes. MoonToys are made from natural, untreated wood and non-toxic finishes, so they can be enjoyed for years and then repurposed as decor, keepsakes, or learning tools. When their life as a toy ends, they are fully biodegradable and can be composted at home, leaving no harmful trace behind.

It all started when me Dr. Ritika Rajpoot, a biochemist and my husband Abhishek Singh, a VFX artist for films travelled to Germany and stumbled upon beautifully crafted wooden toys - simple, open-ended, and so full of life.

Years later, when we became parents, we wanted the same for our daughter - toys that were safe, screen-free, and designed to spark imagination.

But we found none. The Indian market was flooded with plastic, sound, and lights - but very little soul.

That’s when MoonToys was born.
