Brand Story

We started Papaya because we wanted menstrual products that were sustainable, safe, and genuinely comfortable. When we saw that most people still preferred pads over cups—despite the waste and discomfort—we knew we had to re-engineer the pad itself. Our mission is to build menstrual products that honour the body and the planet, without compromising on what truly matters: comfort, performance, and trust. In our research, we found that plastic is incredibly hard to beat in absorbency and dryness. But then we asked ourselves: blood has the ability to clot—what if we could use that to our advantage? That insight became the foundation for a new kind of pad. Once we built a material stack that actually worked, we knew we had a choice: let it gather dust as a cool lab experiment, or put it out in the world where it might fail—but at least it would be used. We’d rather it failed in people’s hands than be forgotten on a shelf.
