WHE by Abira - Brown Living™

WHE by Abira

WHE — short for Women, Hand-made & Eco-friendly — is a design-driven ethical jewellery label founded in 2020 to connect women artisans directly to the market. Our jewellery is handcrafted with love and eco-consciousness using earth-friendly materials. As an all-women organisation, we focus on empowering underprivileged women to become financially independent and emotionally secure. We create livelihood opportunities across the supply chain and develop micro-entrepreneurs who go on to lead and train other women artisans. We continuously experiment with sustainable materials and processes — from garment-cutting waste, recycled paper and metals, to natural stones and traditional art forms — to offer stylish, high-quality jewellery without compromising on sustainability. Impact: 180+ women empowered • 500+ women trained • 15+ crafts revived • 13+ women-led craft groups • 5000+ kilos of waste up-cycled

What is the manufacturing process?

Our jewellery is handcrafted through a sustainable and artisan-led production process. Each piece is designed in-house and then made by skilled women artisans who work with earth-friendly materials such as recycled metals, natural fibres, garment-cutting waste, reused papers and ethically sourced stones. The process includes design development, prototyping, hand-crafting, finishing, quality checks and final assembly — all done in small batches to reduce waste. We follow a zero-waste approach, ensuring that leftover materials are reused in new collections while supporting fair wages, safe working conditions and continuous skill development for women artisans.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

WHE by Abira jewellery is handcrafted using eco-friendly and upcycled materials, including recycled metals, upcycled wood, natural stones, organic fibres, garment-cutting waste, handmade paper, and traditional craft elements. Every material is chosen to create beautiful, durable, and sustainable jewellery that supports women artisans and reduces environmental impact.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

At WHE by Abira, we source our raw materials with sustainability and ethics at the forefront. Metals, stones, fibres, and upcycled materials are carefully selected from trusted suppliers, recycling initiatives, and artisan communities. Fabric scraps, wood, and paper are sourced from pre-consumer waste and local eco-friendly vendors

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

WHE by Abira jewellery is made from recycled, natural, and upcycled materials. You can reuse metals, stones, and wood in DIY projects, and compost organic fibres, paper, or wood parts at home, reducing waste and extending the life of materials.
