About My Original (MyOG)

My Original (MyOG) - Brown Living™

Fashion has long been a language of self-expression, but at MyOriginal, we believe it can also be a voice for change. Born to redefine “style” in today’s fast-paced world, we offer a conscious alternative to fast fashion—celebrating sustainability, ethics, and design. Looking good should never come at the cost of the planet or the people behind the seams. Our primary fabric, hemp, grows with minimal water, nurtures the soil, and stands the test of time. Combined with other eco-friendly fibres, our garments are effortless yet enduring. Beyond materials, we prioritise ethical production, transparency, and the revival of local craftsmanship. Each piece carries artisan skill and pride, proving true luxury lies in authenticity. MyOriginal designs for those who value style and substance, promoting fashion that evolves responsibly. Hemp is Hope, Not Dope.

Mission Statement

Creating fashion that protects the planet, uplifts creators, and celebrates conscious personal style

Impact Created

Reduced Water Consumption By using hemp blends instead of cotton, we cut water usage by ~50% across bag production. Lower Chemical Footprint Hemp requires no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, reducing chemical runoff and protecting soil. Carbon Sequestration Hemp naturally sequesters ~1.6 tons of CO₂ per ton grown, contributing to climate-positive sourcing. Waste Minimisation Our OG Ukiyo patchwork totes repurpose off-cut fabrics, diverting textile waste from landfills. Support for Local Artisans We partner with craftspeople in Nepal and North-East India, preserving traditional techniques and creating sustainable livelihoods. Product Longevity & Biodegradability Hemp fibres are durable and biodegradable, extending product life and reducing end-of-life waste. Formal Impact Tracking In FY25, we will track water savings, CO₂ reductions, artisan incomes, and waste diversion to ensure transparency.

What is the manufacturing process?

Our products are ethically procured in Nepal and handcrafted in Kathmandu by skilled local artisans. We work with natural fibers like hemp and cotton, ensuring that every step of the process remains sustainable and responsible. From sourcing to crafting, the focus is on low-impact production, traditional techniques, and supporting artisan communities. Each product is designed to be durable, functional, and timeless—reflecting both environmental care and cultural heritage.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

We work with natural and sustainable fibers that keep our products authentic and eco-friendly. Primarily, we use hemp for its durability and low environmental impact, zigzag hemp for its unique artisanal texture, and cotton for softness and comfort. At times, we blend hemp and cotton to create fabrics that balance strength with wearability. Every material is chosen with care to ensure our products remain functional, timeless, and kind to the planet.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source our raw materials locally and responsibly in Nepal, working directly with communities and suppliers who follow ethical and sustainable practices. Our primary materials—hemp, zigzag hemp, and cotton—are chosen for their low environmental footprint, durability, and natural qualities. Every material is carefully vetted to ensure it is authentic, eco-friendly, and traceable.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes. Our products are made from 100% natural fibers, which makes them safe to return to the Earth. With proper care, they are highly durable and can be repurposed into household textiles, storage solutions, or creative upcycled pieces. At the end of their lifecycle, the hemp and cotton fabrics are biodegradable and compostable at home, leaving behind no harmful residues—only a gentle footprint on the planet.

With over half a decade of expertise in community-building and sales, Biswapratim Das founded MyOriginal in November 2022 to bridge the gap between the need for sustainable fashion and conscious consumerism. Driven by a vision to bring forth strong sustainable change and make fashion carbon-free, he is pioneering the movement to scale the ethical impact of hemp—a 'hidden gem' of nature—and shatter misconceptions surrounding it, while also uplifting the artisans who masterfully hand-process every fibre to bring life into each creation.
