Inspired by nature’s beauty, our ethical, artisan-crafted pieces tell stories of flora and fauna while raising awareness for conservation. Each design is a wearable reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the planet and its creatures.

About Nia Studio

Nia is the first brand we’ve built together, but the values behind it began much earlier. Before Nia, one of us founded Amalgam — a deeply personal exploration of handcrafted jewellery and naturally dyed hemp apparel. That chapter wasn’t a failure; it was a foundation. It taught us how materials, process, and responsibility are inseparable. Growing up, we saw the world differently. One of us was drawn to creativity, design, and fairness; the other to structure, planning, and long-term thinking. What always united us was a quiet compassion for animals and a discomfort with harm and waste. That sensitivity shaped how we question what we make — and how. Nia was built intentionally, with balance. Creative vision held steady by responsibility. Values grounded in action. Our love for animals informs every decision, from choosing vegan materials to building a circular system that reduces waste.

From the start, we chose intention over scale. By using recycled brass, we’ve reduced reliance on newly mined metals and kept existing materials in circulation. Our jewellery is entirely vegan, reflecting our commitment to compassion for animals. We support small manufacturing units and skilled karigars through small-batch production, reducing waste. Our return-and-repurpose program extends product life through replating or reuse, ensuring jewellery never becomes waste.

What is the manufacturing process?

We begin by sourcing discarded brass from old utensils or old jewelleries , giving metal that already exists a second life. This brass is carefully sorted, cleaned, and refined before being melted and rebalanced to achieve the right copper–zinc composition. The molten metal is then cast using traditional hand-casting or lost-wax techniques, depending on the design. Once cooled, each piece is shaped, filed, and refined by skilled karigars, ensuring every form carries a human touch. We finish the surface through polishing, texturing, or gentle oxidation to bring depth and character to the design. To enhance durability and ensure skin safety, the jewellery is plated with 18k gold. Finally, stones and components are hand-set, each piece is carefully inspected, and only then is it ready to be worn. By working with recycled brass, we reduce waste, avoid fresh mining, and craft jewellery that is thoughtful, responsible, and made to last.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

At the heart of our jewellery is recycled brass, sourced from existing metal waste and refined to give it a second life. By reusing brass, we reduce the need for new mining and lower our environmental footprint without compromising on strength or beauty. Our pieces are finished with 18k gold plating, applied in controlled processes to ensure longevity while minimising excess material use. Where stones are used, we work with responsibly sourced semi-precious stones, glass, and handcrafted elements that celebrate traditional techniques and small-scale craftsmanship. Every ingredient is chosen with intention not ot just for how it looks, but for how it impacts the environment and the communities involved. By focusing on sustainable materials, we create jewellery that carries meaning, responsibility, and a quieter kind of luxury designed to last beyond trends.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We work closely with a small network of trusted jewellery manufacturers who share our values of ethical production and responsible sourcing. Our partnerships are built on long-term relationships rather than mass outsourcing, allowing us to maintain transparency at every stage of the process.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

We believe jewellery should never end its journey in a drawer or landfill. Every piece is designed to be part of a circular system, where materials are reused and given new life. When you feel you’re done wearing a piece, or when the plating no longer looks the way it once did, you can send it back to us. Once we receive your jewellery, you can choose how you’d like to proceed. If the piece holds meaning for you, we can refresh it by fixing the plating, restoring the finish, and sending it back—ready to be worn again. If you no longer wish to keep it, we responsibly repurpose it. The returned jewellery is carefully dismantled, and the brass is refined and reused to create new designs. Stones and components that are still in good condition are thoughtfully integrated into future pieces. This process reduces waste and limits the need for newly sourced metals. By returning your jewellery, you help close the loop.
