Our Concern

Like many people today, we are increasingly concerned about our impact on the planet. We are particularly bothered by the use and abuse of plastic, which does not biodegrade and finds its way into our oceans and environments. Here it causes untold damage and death to millions of marine and land animals and birds. We feel that it is time to wake up and stand up against environmental disaster.

Our Journey

As regular practitioners of yoga, it alarms us that practice as peaceful, sacred and non-violent as yoga has in many ways evolved into a PVC and plastic supporting the industry. The large majority of yoga mats are made of PVC – these mats contain phthalates, which have been linked to reproductive and other health issues. When we are finished with these mats, they end up in landfill where they release carcinogens into the earth and our water systems for decades to come. Even many of the newer so-called ‘eco-friendly’ mats on the market leave a lot to be desired.

Our concern led us to search for the perfect environmentally friendly yoga mat – a quality, durable mat that looks beautiful and feels good to practise on, and one that is sustainably produced, biodegradable, and free from toxins. We road-tested many mats in the perfection of our design and are proud to be able to offer a wide range to suit every practice.
