Oftentimes, edible leftovers tend to go straight into the waste pile. While some of us may have access to abundant food, for some this privilege may not be an option. Below is a list of NGOs and volunteers, who specialize in collecting left-over foods from large gatherings, parties, events, and weddings. This food is then distributed to those in need.

Roti Bank by Dabbawalas

As the name suggests, this is a food collection & donation service by the Dabbawalas of Mumbai. Besides collecting large leftovers from events and parties, they will also take small quantities of excess food from your home.

Shelter Don Bosco

This NGO has been working to help street children for quite a few years. They accept leftover cooked food if you can deliver it by 8 pm and intimate them in advance.

Feeding India

They are a non-profit enterprise that collects excess food from individuals, weddings, restaurants, corporate offices, etc., and distributes it to the needy. Besides having a 24x7 helpline, they can also be contacted through their mobile app. Besides Delhi, they also operate in Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Faridabad, Goa, Noida, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, and Solan.

Robin-Hood Army

This organization also collects large quantities of leftovers for the needy. They have a network of over 2,315 volunteers spread across 19 cities. They also operate in Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, and Jabalpur. It also has a network in Pakistan.

Mr. RB Shivkumar - Food Donation Services

A Bangalore-based social activist, Mr. Shivkumar collects only vegetarian leftovers from large-scale events like parties and weddings and also personally tastes the food before distributing it.
