October Pumpkin was born in Manipur with a vision to bring the region’s rich craft traditions into contemporary homes. We work with local artisans to transform indigenous crafts like Longpi Black Pottery into thoughtfully designed products, while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and preserving traditional craftsmanship for future generations. What is the manufacturing process?
Our products are made through a combination of traditional artisan craftsmanship and contemporary candle-making. Longpi Black Pottery vessels are handcrafted by skilled artisans in Manipur using locally sourced natural materials, shaped and fired using traditional techniques. The finished pottery is then carefully prepared, and our candles are hand-poured using domestically grown soy wax and carefully selected fragrances. Each piece undergoes quality checks and finishing before being packaged and shipped.
What are the ingredients/materials you use?
We primarily use Longpi Black Pottery, 100% domestically grown soy wax, cotton wicks, and carefully selected fragrance oils. Our packaging is designed with sustainability in mind, using recyclable and eco-conscious materials wherever possible.
How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?
We source our materials through a combination of local artisan networks and trusted Indian suppliers. Longpi Black Pottery is handcrafted by artisan communities in Manipur, while our soy wax and other candle-making materials are sourced from reliable domestic suppliers. Wherever possible, we prioritise locally available, natural and responsibly sourced materials to support local livelihoods and reduce our supply chain footprint.
During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?
Yes. Our products are designed with reuse and longevity in mind. Longpi Black Pottery vessels can be repurposed after the candle is finished as planters, storage containers, décor pieces, or utility objects. Soy wax is biodegradable, while reusable pottery can have a long life beyond its original purpose. Where possible, we also encourage customers to reuse or recycle the packaging rather than discard it.
