Deroi Tea is a homegrown startup Tea Brand emerging from Moran, a busy tea town in Assam. We are a lean team that loves to build new ways to give the daily tea drinker the untainted taste and benefits of the renowned Assam tea. Our ambitions lie in becoming a trusted brand, tech pioneers, and passionate tea makers. Every batch of Deroi Tea is dried at temperatures less than 50°C using our Patented Gentle Drying Technology that is free from any combustion and uses electricity for a Zero-Carbon Emission drying process that gives a Clean & Healthy Tea Experience. Every pouch of our tea has a tag attached with a signature fold carefully hand-crafted away from machine influence.

Impact Created

We have directly stopped the dependency of carbon-based fuels like coal and lpg in tea production which did lead to - 1. Direct emission from combustion of these fuels which was the primary fuel for drying the tea leaves in legacy machineries still in use. 2. The land used to store coals became unusable and dead for any other usage. 3. The handling of these fuels was also harmful for the workers in direct contact.

What is the manufacturing process?

1. Sourcing the freshly plucked tea leaves directly from Small Tea Growers (STG) and bring it to our Micro Factory. 2. Steaming the leaves in our proprietary fully electric steamer 3. Rolling the tea leaves in a roller 4. Drying the leaves in our Patented Carbon-Free Dryer.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

Tea Leaves are our only ingredients. For Packaging - The tea is packed in a food grade recyclable pouch which is then placed inside a food grade paper box. Both the packaging elements can be recycled.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

Deroi Tea sources its tea leaves from dedicated Small Tea Growers directly who are located just 20 minutes from our factory in Moranhat, Assam. We only source tea leaves from a specific clone of the tea plant which makes the best whole leaf tea. Further only, fine leaves (top most tender leaves) are chosen which have the best of flavour and natural goodness. We have only one raw material which is Tea Leaves.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Tea leaves are known to be excellent for composting. So post brewing the tea leaves can be put in a compost mixture. Further for the packaging, the inner pouch has a zip lock which further makes it reusable and the tea can be stored in the pouch itself.
