About Kritenya

Kritenya - Brown Living™

Kritenya was born with a deep intention—to work closely with the weavers and traditional weaves of Assam, bringing their craft into contemporary relevance. At a time when it was uncommon, even controversial, to cut mekhalas and transform them into bags, we chose to challenge convention. There were mixed reactions—some appreciated the innovation, while others questioned it—but we stayed committed to our vision. Slowly and steadily, we grew. Exhibitions, along with online platforms like Craftsvilla and Novica, played a significant role in helping us reach a wider audience and build trust in what we were creating. From the very beginning, Kritenya was never just about products—it was about people. Instead of setting up a conventional factory, we chose a more mindful path: working with women who already possess skills like stitching and handwork but may not have the opportunity to step out and work.

We source from weavers directly or from a ethical source locally. Most of the time we find the best fabrics in the scrap markets too, which we use as linings . We also buy damage or rejected pcs from weavers
