About HiLiHiF

HiLiHiF - Brown Living™

For years, I searched for dresses that felt like me—pure, breathable, beautiful pieces that carried the quiet confidence. But everywhere I looked, the racks were filled with synthetic shine and disposable trends. Nothing felt authentic. Nothing felt comforting. Nothing felt like home. So, I went back to where it all began—my love for textiles since my teenage years and the joy I always felt in creating something new & honest. I left an 11-year career as a chartered accountant to build what I couldn’t find: timeless, minimal dresses crafted only from pure, natural fabrics. Today, my brand exists for women like me—women who want style without compromise, elegance without noise, comfort without chemicals, and designs that feel both effortless and elevated. Every piece is created with intention, transparency, and a deep respect for nature and craftsmanship. This is more than fashion. It’s a return to what feels real!!!

Mission Statement

Crafting natural fabric timeless dresses whilst blending comfort, minimalism & ethical production.

Impact Created

Social & Environmental Impact Approximately 20% of our fabrics are sourced from Puraini weavers in Bhagalpur, who are part of the Hastkargha Bunkar Samiti. This cluster comprises around 40 weavers, supporting organized handloom production while preserving traditional weaving practices. Another 20% of our fabrics are sourced from Bhujodi in the Kutch region of Gujarat — a village renowned for its rich handloom heritage and skilled artisan community. Through direct and region-specific sourcing, we aim to strengthen traditional textile clusters while ensuring authenticity, traceability, and quality in every garment we create. Direct Employment: We work with home-based women artisans for our hand-painting and hand-embroidery processes. By offering flexible, skill-based work that can be carried out from their homes, we support livelihood opportunities that align with their personal and family responsibilities.

What is the manufacturing process?

At HiLIHiF, every piece is thoughtfully crafted in-house at our workshop in Pune, Maharashtra. We follow a small-batch production model, creating garments in limited quantities and often made-to-order based on demand. This allows us to maintain strict quality control, minimise waste, and ensure each piece receives the attention it deserves. From fabric selection to final finishing, every stage is carefully supervised within our workshop. All embroidery, hand painting, and surface detailing are carried out under our close supervision to maintain consistency in craftsmanship, quality, and finishing. Our hand painting is executed by skilled women artisans working from their homes, supporting flexible livelihoods while preserving the authenticity of handmade art. By producing in small batches and as per orders received, we stay true to our commitment to mindful fashion — reducing overproduction while delivering pieces that feel personal, intentional, and truly individual.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

We work exclusively with natural fabrics — not only for the outer garment but also for the inner lining, where we use soft cotton mull to ensure breathability and comfort against the skin. Our garments are crafted using carefully sourced natural textiles such as pure handloom linen, Tencel linen, handloom Kala cotton, mull Chanderi, 60 Lea fine linen, cotton silk, etc. Each fabric is selected for its texture, breathability, fluidity, and ability to age beautifully with wear — staying true to our philosophy of mindful, long-lasting design.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

Our raw materials are thoughtfully sourced from trusted regions known for their textile heritage. Our handloom fabrics are procured directly from weavers in Bhagalpur, ensuring authenticity and supporting traditional craftsmanship. Kala cotton is sourced from Bhujodi in the Kutch region, known for its resilient, indigenous cotton varieties. Pure linen, cotton silk, and Tencel linen - woven on power looms - are currently sourced from trusted wholesalers in Jaipur. We are also in discussions to procure these fabrics directly from a factory in Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra, a well-known manufacturing hub for linen, allowing us to further strengthen traceability and sourcing efficiency.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Our garments are designed with longevity in mind. Beyond being worn and cherished over time, they can be thoughtfully repurposed once their primary life cycle is complete. Since we work exclusively with natural fabrics, the textiles can be reused in meaningful ways — transformed into scarves, overlays, children’s wear, home accents, patchwork pieces, or other creative applications. We believe clothing should not end its journey after one lifecycle — it should evolve with you.
