The Eco Twig - Brown Living™

The Eco Twig

The Eco Twig creates sustainable tableware and straws made entirely from upcycled agricultural waste such as sugarcane bagasse and wheat waste. Our products are plastic-free, compostable, and offer a more durable and premium alternative to conventional disposables. By turning farm waste into functional everyday products, we support a circular, zero-waste approach to packaging and food service.

About The Eco Twig

The Eco Twig - Brown Living™

The Eco Twig started with a simple thought—nature creates no waste, but we do. Seeing agricultural waste being burned and single-use plastics everywhere, we felt there had to be a better way to make everyday products. What began as an attempt to give farm waste a second life gradually evolved into creating tableware from materials like sugarcane bagasse and wheat residue. For us, sustainability has always been about balance—making products that are not just eco-friendly, but also practical, durable, and reliable in everyday use. We believe choosing better shouldn’t mean compromising on quality or experience. With The Eco Twig, we’re simply trying to make responsible choices easier—by turning waste into something useful, one product at a time.

What is the manufacturing process?

Our products are not made from virgin materials but from agricultural waste. This truly embodies the circular economy—turning discarded resources into renewable biomaterial applications. This is the fundamental difference from PLA and PP. After the sugarcane juice is extracted to make sugar, the waste is dried and made into small granules and then run through machine into specially made molds of spoon, fork and knife and to make into straws.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

Our products are not made from virgin materials but from agricultural waste. We utilize natural residues such as sugarcane bagasse and wheat waste, ensuring that no additional raw resources are consumed in the process. By transforming these farm by-products into functional tableware, we reduce waste while offering a sustainable, plant-based alternative to conventional disposable materials.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

Our raw material is sourced directly from sugar mills, where sugarcane bagasse is generated as a by-product after juice extraction. Instead of allowing this agricultural residue to go to waste, we procure it and repurpose it into sustainable products. This sourcing approach not only ensures efficient use of existing resources but also supports a circular economy by turning farm waste into valuable, eco-friendly materials.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes, our products are designed with end-of-life sustainability in mind. They can be repurposed for secondary uses where applicable, and once disposed of, they are 100% compostable and biodegradable. Our products can break down naturally in home composting conditions, returning safely to the earth without leaving behind harmful residues.
