Mudrayas - Brown Living™

Mudrayas

Mudrayas - a path to sustainable living by embracing slow fashion. In a world dominated by fast fashion's "take, make, dispose" approach, we embrace a more mindful and sustainable way of consuming clothing that emphasizes quality. Each garment is meticulously hand-painted and hand-embroidered, transforming every piece into a wearable work of art. Our designs are canvas-worthy artworks that tells a story. You can wear it and later frame it to adorn your wall. We use cotton bags for packaging which are durable, reusable and biodegradable. One small step towards carbon footprint reduction. The brand hangtag used in our product is unique in itself. It is a Seeded hangtag which helps making earth greener. These hangtags are made from recycled paper and embedded with seeds, allowing them to be planted and grown into wildflowers or herbs. We at Mudrayas believe in this famous saying - "We all have the power to make a difference, and it starts with one small action"

About Mudrayas

Mudrayas - Brown Living™

Mudrayas is a slow fashion brand turning clothing into art. We use only 100% natural cotton, khadi, and linen. Each garment is hand-painted or hand-embroidered, made to be worn for years and later framed as wall art, not discarded. Our impact: Reusable cotton bags replace plastic. Seeded hangtags from recycled paper grow into plants. Small-batch, made-to-order production prevents waste. We employ artisans directly, paying for skill and preserving heritage craft. Key challenges: Scaling handmade quality, customer education on pricing vs. fast fashion, and sourcing certified materials at SME-friendly volumes. What we need: Access to conscious consumers, supply chain partners for natural fabrics, tools to measure environmental impact, and working capital support. We’re early-stage but proven. Our vision: fewer clothes in landfills, more stories in wardrobes — where sustainability feels like art, and art feels like home.

Mission Statement

A wardrobe with fewer pieces, deeper stories — where art, craft, and earth matter.

Impact Created

Mudrayas creates environmental, social, and cultural impact by making sustainability wearable. We use fabrics like cotton, khadi, and linen — working towards zero microplastics. Every garment is hand-painted or hand-embroidered, preserving heritage crafts while providing livelihoods to women artisans. Our production is small-batch, ensuring zero deadstock and zero landfill. We eliminated plastic from packaging, replacing it with reusable cotton bags and plantable seeded tags that grow into herbs. We trained women in hand-painting, hand-embroidery, patchwork from waste fabric, tie-dye, and surface design. We conducted workshops on recycling plastic and upcycling fabric waste into tote bags, cotton bags, coasters, and dining mats, diverting kg of scrap from landfill. We ran sustainability awareness sessions on fast fashion, fabric literacy, and zero-waste habits. Mudrayas count pieces saved from landfills, from losing their story. We make art you’ll wear for years, then frame for life!

What is the manufacturing process?

We begin with nature. Only cotton, khadi, and linen touch your skin — never synthetic yarn. Every fabric is handpicked to match the design theme, because the right canvas matters as much as the art. Once the fabric is chosen, we create the first fit sample. It’s tailored, tested, and approved for comfort and drape. Only then is the final pattern locked — the blueprint every piece will follow. The stitching happens in Jaipur, with trusted vendor partners who understand our slow fashion ethos. No rushed assembly lines. Just skilled hands, careful seams, and time. Then comes the soul of Mudrayas: surface design. Each garment becomes a canvas for theme-based artwork. Every design is hand-painted or hand-embroidered, making it one of a kind. Even if we recreate a piece, the artwork is reimagined — so no two Mudrayas are ever truly identical. From yarn to artwork, every step is slow, intentional, and human. That’s how we ensure you don’t just wear a garment. You wear a story!

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

We use fabrics like cotton, khadi, and linen with hand-painted/hand-embroidered artwork, packed in reusable cotton bags with plantable seeded hangtags. No synthetics and no plastics are used.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source 100% cotton, khadi, and linen directly from trusted Indian mills and handloom clusters. Fabrics are picked based on each design theme. Artwork uses fabric colour from Pidilite and fevicryl. Embroidery threads from Vardhman. Packaging uses cotton bags and seeded hangtags from recycled paper. No synthetics. No harmful chemicals. We work with vendors who value quality, ethics, and sustainability.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

During its life: Absolutely. A Mudrayas garment is designed for longevity and multiple lives. Wear it in multiple ways — style it as a kurta, dress, overlay, or layer. Timeless design means it won’t go out of fashion next season. Pass it on — fabrics like cotton, khadi, and linen age beautifully. Hand-painted art makes it heirloom-worthy. Repurpose it — frame it to adorn your walls, cut and stitch into cushion covers, table runners, or tote bags. The fabric and artwork remain intact. Beyond its life: Yes, it can return to the earth. Garment: Made from cotton, khadi, or linen are biodegradable — it will break down naturally without releasing microplastics. Buttons: We use shell buttons (mother of pearl and coconut) which are considered sustainable, will decompose without leaving any harmful residue behind. Packaging: Our cotton bags are reusable, then biodegradable. Hangtags: Plantable seeded tags made from recycled paper. Plant them to grow herbs. Wear it, frame it, plant it!
