About GULMEHER

GULMEHER - Brown Living™

Gulmeher was founded on the belief that what society discards can be transformed into something beautiful, valuable, and impactful. Based in the Ghazipur community of Delhi, we create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women waste-pickers and women from marginalized backgrounds by training them as skilled artisans. We collect discarded flowers from temples and the Ghazipur Flower Market and give them a second life through handcrafted products such as sustainable gifts, décor, candles, and diyas. By combining waste recovery with artisan craftsmanship, we reduce environmental waste while creating dignified employment and financial independence for women. At Gulmeher, every product represents a journey of transformation—from waste to value, and from vulnerability to empowerment. Through our work, we promote sustainability, circular economy practices, and social inclusion, creating positive impact for both people and the planet.

What is the manufacturing process?

Gulmeher's diyas are handcrafted by women artisans using recycled and upcycled materials. The process involves material collection, processing, shaping, hand-finishing, quality inspection, and sustainable packaging, ensuring every diya is environmentally responsible and socially impactful.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

For our diyas and candles, the primary materials are soy wax, cotton wicks, Waste flower petals and eco-friendly decorative elements, ensuring a clean-burning and environmentally conscious product.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

Gulmeher sources floral waste from temples and the Ghazipur Flower Market, earthen diyas from local Kumhar artisans, and soy wax from trusted local suppliers. Our sourcing approach combines waste recovery, local procurement, and community support to create sustainable products with meaningful impact.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes. Most Gulmeher products are reusable, recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable. Earthen diyas naturally decompose, soy wax is biodegradable, and many decorative and packaging elements can be composted or recycled, helping to reduce waste and support a circular economy.
