About Geathé

Geathé - Brown Living™

Geathé began with a very personal problem. Not able to use everyday soaps, hand washes without irritating my skin. Products meant for daily use were harsh, heavily fragranced, and relied on high concentrations of surfactants. t As I researched further, I realised the issue went beyond skin. Many commonly used cleansing ingredients, such as strong sulphate-based surfactants and antibacterial agents designed for frequent use, do not break down easily after use. When washed down the drain, they enter water systems and can be harmful to aquatic life and soil health. What started as a search for gentler skincare turned into a deeper commitment to sustainability. Geathé was created to address both gaps: everyday skincare that respects sensitive skin and formulations designed to be biodegradable and environmentally responsible. Built slowly and bootstrapped from personal savings, the brand prioritises restraint, ingredient honesty, and long-term impact over scale or trends.

What is the manufacturing process?

At Geathé our body butters, face oils, and face creams are manufactured in small, controlled batches using low-heat or no-heat processes to preserve the integrity of plant oils, butters, and botanical actives. Oils and butters are weighed precisely and gently melted only where required, then blended under controlled conditions to ensure stability and consistency. Face oils are formulated without heat wherever possible, while body butters and creams use minimal heat strictly for emulsification or butter melting. Essential oils are added following IFRA guidelines at safe, skin-appropriate concentrations after cooling. Each batch follows a documented formulation and hygiene protocol before being filled, labelled, and packaged. We consciously avoid unnecessary processing, synthetic stabilisers, or fillers, keeping the manufacturing process simple, intentional, and ingredient-forward.

What are the ingredients/materials you use?

Our products are formulated using plant-based oils and butters selected for barrier support and low irritation potential. These include cold-pressed carrier oils such as hemp, grape-seed, tamanu, jojoba and specialty botanical oils, along with nourishing plant butters like mango and kokum butter. Face creams use naturally derived emulsifiers and stabilisers suitable for sensitive skin. We use essential oils for functional and therapeutic purposes, never synthetic fragrance. Where required, we use skin-safe, naturally derived antioxidants or preservatives appropriate for leave-on products. Packaging materials include glass containers, metal lids, recycled sanitary napkins label stock, and FSC-certified recycled paper boxes.

How do you source your raw materials/ ingredients?

We source our oils, butters, and functional ingredients from established Indian suppliers specialising in cosmetic-grade, plant-based raw materials. Preference is given to cold-pressed, minimally processed inputs with consistent quality standards. Packaging materials are sourced from certified vendors offering recycled and responsibly sourced options. Some of our labels are produced from recycled sanitary labels waste material, and our outer packaging is made from FSC-certified recycled paper. Certification and material documentation are available upon request. Our sourcing decisions are guided by ingredient safety, traceability, and environmental responsibility rather than trend-driven selection.

During its life and beyond, can your products be repurposed or composted at home?

Yes. Our formulations are designed to be biodegradable and break down responsibly after use. While the caps are made from plastic to prevent metal from reacting with our essential oil based products, we incentivise customers to recycle them or give them back to us to give them a second life. Glass containers used for face oils, creams, and body butters can be washed and reused for storage or household purposes. Metal lids can be recycled through local systems. Outer paper boxes are recyclable and suitable for home composting. Labels made from recycled material can be removed before composting or recycling, depending on local waste practices. We actively encourage customers to reuse containers and minimise waste wherever possible.

What began as discomfort evolved into a desperate search—a journey through countless products, harsh medications, and endless trial and error. Nothing worked.
